Pipeline Strainers
Industrial strainers to protect pumps, valves, and equipment from debris. Y strainers and basket strainers in 316 stainless steel and cast iron.

Strainer Types
Y Strainer
Compact design suitable for horizontal or vertical installation with moderate pressure loss and manual maintenance access.
Simplex Basket Strainer
Horizontal unit featuring top-opening basket access, medium-to-high debris capacity, and low pressure loss for general inline filtration.
Duplex Basket Strainer
Dual-basket system allowing continuous flow during maintenance without downtime, ideal for systems requiring uninterrupted operation.
Flanged Suction Strainer
Installed at pump suction end to prevent large debris entering the system. 316SS construction with large size range up to DN900.

About Pipeline Strainers
Pipeline strainers are inline filtration devices that remove solid particles and debris from process fluids. They protect downstream equipment including pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and spray nozzles from damage caused by foreign matter. Proper strainer selection prevents costly equipment failures and reduces maintenance downtime.
Y strainers are compact units ideal for steam, gas, and liquid applications where space is limited. Basket strainers offer larger debris capacity and easier cleaning access for high-flow applications. Duplex strainers allow continuous operation during basket cleaning by switching flow between dual chambers. Suction strainers are specifically designed for pump inlet protection.
Our strainer range includes 316 stainless steel (CF8M), cast iron, and ductile iron bodies with perforated or mesh screen elements. Standard mesh sizes from 0.5mm to 3mm suit most applications. Custom mesh sizes and materials available on request. All strainers are flanged to AS4087 Table D/E or ANSI 150lb standards.

Why Buy Strainers from Dewater
Established in 2015, Dewater Products supplies industrial strainers Australia-wide from our base in Perth. We source from over 20 approved manufacturers across 5 countries and supply made to your specification, so you get the material, screen and flange standard your system needs without paying for warehousing or local fabrication overheads.
Strainer FAQs
What is the difference between a Y strainer and a basket strainer?
A Y strainer is a compact inline unit best suited to steam, gas and lower-flow liquid lines where space is tight, with the screen set at an angle inside the Y-shaped body. A basket strainer sits horizontally with a larger top-opening basket, so it holds far more debris and is quicker to clean, which suits higher-flow water and process applications.
What mesh or perforation size do I need?
Dewater strainers use perforated or mesh screen elements with standard openings from 0.5mm to 3mm, which covers most pump, valve and equipment protection duties. Finer or coarser screens and custom mesh sizes are available on request. Tell us the particle size you need to stop at the quote stage and we source the element to match.
What body materials and flange standards are available?
Strainer bodies are available in 316 stainless steel (CF8M), cast iron and ductile iron, with perforated or mesh screens. They are flanged to AS4087 Table D/E or ANSI 150lb as standard, and other flange standards can be sourced to your specification.
Can I keep flow running while a strainer is cleaned?
Yes. A duplex basket strainer uses two chambers and a diverter valve, so flow switches to the second basket while the first is cleaned, giving continuous operation with no shutdown. For single-line duties a simplex basket or Y strainer is cleaned during a planned stop.
